Job Title: Material Handler – Order Picker and Packer

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for picking customer orders from primary product locations within the production areas and boxing the orders for shipment. The role involves using voice-directed picking to ensure accuracy in product selection, and packing the items carefully to ensure safe delivery.

  • Log onto the voice system and begin the voice-directed picking process using a cart and coversheet.
  • Move through product bin aisles to pick corresponding products, ensuring correct products and quantities are selected.
  • Pack items efficiently, ensuring all products are secured and packed according to company procedures (e.g., bubble wrap for glass items, placing liquids in bags).
  • Verify the accuracy of selected products and compare with packing lists to maintain high quality and reduce errors.
  • After completing the cart, return it to the staging area and start packing customer orders.
  • Select appropriately sized shipping boxes or envelopes and pack orders securely to avoid damage during transit.
  • Ensure quality by verifying selected products and checking for accuracy during the packing process.
  • Report any errors or discrepancies to the team, and correct orders as necessary.
  • Dispose of empty boxes and packaging materials to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

  • Meet company standards for the quantity and quality of work performed.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and directives regarding workplace behavior.
  • Maintain accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

Experience and Compensation:

  • Prior warehousing experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of basic warehouse operations is helpful.
  • This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $18.00, with opportunities for increases for internal promotions.
  • Internal promotions will receive an increase of $1.25 per hour.
  • Lateral internal transfers will maintain their current hourly rate.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Detail-oriented and able to make accurate decisions within established guidelines.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to differentiate between products with similar characteristics, such as size, color, and vendor codes.

Other Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or comparable work experience.
