Project Overview

Within the Enterprise Cyber Security Organization, a new team has been formed to provide a strategic perspective on data across all security tools, platforms, and domains. The team aims to enhance automation, create key metrics, and develop integration/collaboration frameworks for data processing. This involves working with a new platform requiring significant architectural changes. The team is seeking two Data & Automation Engineers to help build and scale data engineering pipelines while supporting the development of the platform.

One engineer will primarily focus on hands-on development of data engineering pipelines. The second engineer will split their role 75% in hands-on development and 25% in architecture, collaborating with senior architects and guiding junior team members. This role is integral to the continued growth and evolution of the platform, requiring a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in building data engineering pipelines on both on-premise and cloud platforms (Snowflake, Databricks)
    • Strong coding skills in Python, PySpark, SQL, with a focus on automation
    • 3+ years using data warehousing/data lake techniques in cloud environments
    • Experience with ELT/ETL tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Cribl, Glue, FiveTran, AirByte)
    • 3+ years in developing data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Plotly, or Streamlit
    • Expertise in capturing incremental data changes and stream processing
  • Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with Cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and software concepts
    • Experience in IT Asset Management, ITIL, and ITSM practices is a plus
    • Solid understanding of data governance, data structures, and metadata management
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience in data science, engineering methodologies, and data storytelling
    • Ability to work with both structured and unstructured data

Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering:
    • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines using Python, PySpark, SQL, Spark, and other technologies
    • Work with various stakeholders to understand business requirements and system constraints
    • Ensure the organization and transformation of data from multiple sources for analysis
    • Contribute to the data curation process, feeding data into catalogs and knowledge bases
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
    • Support data scientists and analytics teams by developing tools and automations that streamline data usage and analysis
    • Engage with senior architects to define and refine system architecture
    • Guide junior team members and offer strategic input into data integration efforts
  • Data Analysis and Communication:
    • Use data science and statistical techniques to derive insights and create data visualizations
    • Present findings through clear, actionable data stories, using tools like PowerPoint and written reports
    • Manage technical and business documentation related to data efforts
