Role Overview:
We are seeking a talented and creative Character Artist to join our team. This role will specialize in creating high-quality characters, armors, aliens, and creatures for the Halo universe. The ideal candidate will have experience working with modeling and texturing tools to create AAA-level art. Collaboration is key, as you will work alongside Character Artists, Art Directors, Technical Artists, Animators, and Game Designers. You will need to adapt quickly in an ever-evolving environment and demonstrate strong self-motivation and time management skills. Additionally, this role offers flexibility, allowing you to work from home up to two days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality character-related models and textures to establish and uphold the project’s visual standard.
  • Collaborate with Tech Art and Engineering teams to plan and implement the art pipeline.
  • Work closely with the Art Director and Leads to align with and advocate for the artistic vision.
  • Assist in planning asset production in collaboration with concept and design teams.

Qualifications:

Required / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Communications, or a related art field, and 2+ years of experience in art design or a related field working on computer games or entertainment, OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in character art creation for game or film.
  • Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of human anatomy and mechanical principles.
  • Creative ability to take a character from concept to completion, whether detailed or simple.
  • Familiarity with next-generation asset creation pipelines and tools.
  • Proficiency in Maya or another core 3D modeling software.
  • Experience with Zbrush or a similar sculpting program.
  • Knowledge of Substance Painter or similar texture painting software.
  • Strong eye for light, shade, color, and detail when creating texture maps.

Compensation:

  • The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 – $193,200 per year.
  • For specific locations such as the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area, the range is USD $127,200 – $208,800 per year.
