Under the direction of colleagues who have more experience working in the Data Center, you will acquire an understanding of standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment. Responsibilities Datacenter Operations Receives direction and supervision to learn standard procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, fixing, replacing, and/or decommissioning IT datacenter technology and equipment. acquires a fundamental understanding of how server, storage, network, and cabling infrastructure work together and work with one another.

Examines Process Change Notifications (PCNs) and becomes aware of changes in their area of work and/or the work of others by studying how they affect work execution. asks questions when they don’t have the information they need, and they might give experienced technicians and/or direct-line management feedback on changes to processes.

complies with the deadlines, policies, and procedures of the Data Center business unit under the direction of skilled technicians or direct-line management. raises concerns with operational assurance or compliance activities with direct-line management.

under the direction of skilled technicians, successfully completes assigned tickets in accordance with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each task type. seeks advice from technicians with more experience on difficult or complex tickets.

With the assistance of knowledgeable technicians or direct-line management, Service Delivery develops an understanding of efficient execution order strategy(s) for assigned tasks. performs basic startup and shutdown tasks for hardware (such as racks, hard drives, and switches) in accordance with written instructions provided by checklists, guides, standard processes, emails, other technicians’ guidance, and/or management’s direction. may collaborate with other technicians to complete tasks in order to meet safety and procedure requirements.
learns how to check grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling after the fact to make sure they are in line with all safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Templates (NDTs). learns about errors in Network Design Templates (NDTs) or deployment standards and reports them to the appropriate technicians or specialists to coordinate any necessary corrections.
Identifies the cause(s) of technical issues and replaces faulty components in network, storage, or server equipment with minimal disruption to customers and/or business with guidance from experienced technicians or standard procedures. increases awareness of conditions, circumstances, and scenarios that could indicate a significant impact on customers or businesses in the Data Center.
immediately communicates, reports, and escalates technical or safety-related incidents in the data center to direct-line management in accordance with procedures. Participates in bridge calls to provide information about the incident’s status and, if necessary, completes on-site follow-up tasks as directed.
directs infrastructure cabling, network, storage, and server equipment refreshes, simple modifications (such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds), and decommissioning, adhering to standard procedures and seeking clarification and direction from more experienced technicians as required. confirms or processes all data-bearing devices (DBDs) for destruction. Examples of such devices include flash cards, solid-state drives, and hard drives. contained in server, storage, or network equipment has been identified for guidance’s removal or destruction.
Managing Service escalates client interactions and/or seeks guidance from skilled technicians or direct-line management.
uses reporting dashboards and systems to keep track of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and as needed, holds personal monthly performance discussions.
enhances partnerships with internal and external stakeholders by developing an understanding of cross-functional Data Center processes.

A high school diploma, GED, or other equivalent, as well as a fundamental understanding of computer hardware and components or IT support (such as the military, networking, help desk, or related fields) and more than one year of experience supporting IT equipment or technology that is related, are required.
