As a mgr product safety & quality, you will…
• Models leadership behaviors that are grounded in Starbucks Mission and Values.
• Drives the engagement, development and performance of all members of their team.
• Partner Development:

o Ensures each partner has job clarity, including guiding partners in crafting & achieving meaningful goals that move work forward and enhance growth and development. Regularly engages in purposeful development discussions that generate insight and drive performance. Develops talent for the organization and is an advocate for partners seeking growth opportunities. Celebrates success and addresses performance gaps knowing that partners can always improve. Effectively leads partner onboarding, including training on key skills, processes and programs and how to approach quality assurance and food/product safety through the lens of Starbucks values.
• Leadership:

o Develops departmental plans and organizational priorities to support the implementation of company programs and strategic plans. Leads team to deliver effective processes that ensure customer and partner trust in food/product safety & quality,

o Establishes goals for the team, allocates resources, develops organizational capability, and models behaviors aligned to company values on how results should be achieved.

o Successfully motivates and collaborates within their team and across their peer group and director level and above.

o Leads using demonstrated and proven experience and applies best practices in quality assurance and food/product safety.

o Builds effective, inclusive and diverse teams: Provides direction, empowers, challenges and inspires team members to achieve business results.

o Leads effective staffing decisions to include succession planning, diverse and inclusive hiring decisions, disciplinary actions, performance management, recognition and rewards
• Trust in Safety & Quality

o Holds team members accountable for leading identification and troubleshooting of complex, broadscale quality, product safety and regulatory issues. Ensures appropriate mitigations steps and solutions to resolve potentially serious product safety or quality issues are taken.

o Interfaces with outside experts, organizations, suppliers and key partnerships to keep Starbucks up to date in quality and food/product safety best practices and benchmarking.

o Leverages expertise to represent the department and Starbucks in clearly explaining and defending Food Safety & Quality programs and practices.

We’d love to hear from people with:
• Education (minimum education level, degree or certification necessary): Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field
• Skills (minimum skills required):

o Proven ability to train, mentor, and motivate other partners

o Ability to manage and resolve conflict

o Ability to prepare clear and concise verbal, written, and visual presentations, effectively utilizes storytelling techniques to clearly communicate to cross-functional stakeholders & senior leaders to align and implement strategy.

o Solutions oriented, thinks proactively and addresses problems constructively

o Identifies and solves complex, operational and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department

o Ability to analyze disparate information and draw appropriate conclusions

o Ability to remain calm under pressure and make recommendations that challenge the status quo

o Builds effective and influential relationships internally and cross-functionally at different levels within the organization and externally with suppliers and 3rd party providers

o Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP Principles, GFSI schemes

o Ability to balance multiple priorities and programs and meet deadlines

o Ability to analyze disparate information and draw appropriate conclusions

o Ability to remain calm under pressure and make recommendations that challenge the status quo
• 10 years of experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
