Assistant County Administrator

Job Purpose and Objectives: The purpose of the Assistant County Administrator is to support the County Administrator in overseeing and managing county operations, and ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of public services to the citizens of Montgomery County. This role includes assisting in the development of the annual county budget, overseeing day-today operations… implementing county policies, and providing leadership to various departments. The Assistant County Administrator will act as a liaison between the County Administrator and department heads to ensure strategic goals are met for Montgomery County.

Essential Duties:
• Support the County Administrator in executing the county’s policies and initiatives.
• Coordinate the work of county departments to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Lead and manage special projects as assigned by the County Administrator.
• Act as the County Administrator in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations as directed by the BOCC.
• Manage contracts, interlocal agreements, and other legal or financial documents.
• Represent the county at public meetings, community events, and in interactions with external agencies.
• Respond to public inquiries and concerns with professionalism and transparency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including city officials, state agencies, and community organizations.
• Assist in developing and enforcing countywide policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Provide strategic recommendations for improving county operations and processes.
• Assist in supervising county staff, conducting performance evaluations, and addressing personnel matters.
• Support the development and implementation of training programs for county employees.
• Manage risk management and safety programs to protect county assets and ensure workplace safety.
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of the annual county budget.
• Monitor and analyze revenues, expenditures, and overall budget compliance.
• Collaborate with department heads to ensure fiscal responsibility across departments.
• Provide oversight of the county’s financial processes, including purchasing, payroll, and auditing functions.
• Assist with other jobs, projects, and duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Political Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Masters Degree preferred.
• Working knowledge of contracts, legal and financial documents, policy creation and implementation, and human resource functions required.
