Responsibilities As a Principal Software Engineer – Kubernetes on the Sky team, you will have the amazing chance to work on business-critical projects that directly impact Microsoft’s future. Because your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of Azure’s business as well as all layers of the cloud technology stack, you will be highly technical, adept at working in a team, and familiar with Kubernetes. You will also be able to quickly pick up new skills.

Utilizing your knowledge of Kubernetes, you will lead the design and implementation of solutions that provide Microsoft’s internal cloud native services with fundamentals of reliability, security, and compliance. This will require collaboration with upstream and downstream dependent Program Management and Engineering teams to define the long- and short-term product strategy with company stakeholders. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in fostering our engineering culture of standardized, quality-focused solutions.

Embody our Culture and Values Requirements Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a technical field that is related to it, as well as more than six years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages like C, C++, C#, or Go, or experience that is comparable.

Ability to participate in a period of global on-call rotation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with more than five years of experience with Cloud Native technologies like containers, Go, and Kubernetes
For this position, you must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements. The specialized security screenings listed below are examples of these requirements:
Background Check for Microsoft Cloud: At the time of hire or transfer and every two years thereafter, this position will be required to pass a background check conducted by Microsoft Cloud.

Preferable Experiences:
Knowledge of managing tens of thousands of Kubernetes clusters that house a variety of applications
proficiency in security best practices and the configurations of Kubernetes networks.

Software Engineering IC5: The typical annual base salary for this position in the United States is between $137,600 and $267,000 USD. The base pay for this position ranges from $180,400 to $294,000 annually in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan areas, with a different range applicable to specific work locations.
