Purchasing Procurement Buyer

I. General Summary:
Identify and source suppliers for material used in TBA’s Seating and Door manufacturing sites. Manage supply base in gathering costs for design changes and issuance of purchase orders to suppliers. Keep TBA’s supplier’s costs competitive with market costs. Negotiate annual contracts with supply base through APR (Annual Price Review) process. Support supply chain risk items to protect supply chain and customer when required.

II. Essential Job Functions:
A. Source suppliers for new parts which are required for TBA manufacturing plants.
B. Approve supplier’s cost for base level pricing and production engineering changes.
C. Negotiate APR (Annual Price Review) with top suppliers, applying a detailed understanding of the supplier cost/process, economics, and providing ideas to the supplier to reduce cost.
D. Identify supplier risk prior to the award of business, and manage day-to-day supplier risk items.
E. Achieve targets for cost planning program and annual business plan.
F. Approve pre-production pricing for trial builds.
G. Manage program readiness for supplier KO/selection.
H. Evaluate new suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, and management capabilities.

III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
• Experience working in a commercial activity or purchasing related field for Tier I or Tier II automotive supplier-related company preferred.

Personal/Technical Skills:
• Basic understanding of the industrial equipment and manufacturing processes relating to metal forming, assemblies, over molding, fine blanking, other as related to automotive Seating primarily
• Understanding of purchasing, manufacturing, production control, and/or materials management.
• Understanding of company product, trade terminology, and quality management and control systems (e.g., TS-16949) and techniques preferred.
• Ability to read components and assembly blue prints and drawings (including 2D/3D).
• Experience in sourcing component parts or raw materials from drawings.
• Basic working knowledge of GD & T (General Dimensioning and Tolerance)
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Active listener with effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work in a fast paced, multicultural work environment.
• Ability to effectively build strong working relationships with internal and external customers including suppliers.
• Ability to work effectively in both strategic and tactical roles.
• Ability to function both independently and with good judgment in a team environment.
• Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate and work well with all levels inside and outside of the organization.

Language Skills:
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information in verbal and written English.
• Japanese and/or Spanish would be helpful.

Computer/Software:
• Previous experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications. ERP System experience (e.g., Oracle) preferred.
• Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).

IV. Work Environment/Conditions:

Office: Open office environment, moderate noise level.
Plant: N/A
Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

V. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time. May be occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required.
