\nWhat you’ll do:<\/p>\n
Edit articles, cost guides, lookbooks, and other content for consumers on Yelp web properties and apps, like this article with home improvement tips, this top 100 places to eat listicle, or this cost guide.
\nOptimize content using the latest SEO tools and techniques.
\nAssist the Managing Editor with article idea generation, the creation of article assignment briefs, and managing external and internal writers and contributors.
\nEdit articles for the business.yelp website and the Yelp blog.
\nEdit other types of content to inspire and build trust with consumers and business owners, including: educational articles, guides, and customer stories.
\nCollaborate with colleagues in marketing, product, customer success, PR, and sales\u2014as well as external customers, partners, freelancers, and vendors\u2014to help create and distribute content.
\nHelp implement, manage, and maintain all editorial systems and processes that keep us running like a well-oiled machine: editorial calendars, content plans, writer roadmaps, audits\/inventories, style guides, analytics, etc.
\nFoster a culture of creative excellence, explain the thinking behind editing decisions, and share best practices with writers and non-writers.
\nWhat it takes to succeed:
\n4+ years of professional editing experience, preferably a mix of journalism and marketing environments.
\n2+ years of experience in a content marketing or a business editorial environment.
\nBachelor\u2019s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
\nExperience editing and rewriting long-form articles, while retaining the author\u2019s unique style, the brand\u2019s voice and tone, and SEO requirements.
\nAbility to provide additional research and reporting, as necessary.
\nThe ability to give (and receive) constructive feedback.
\nWorking knowledge of SEO best practices, particularly for long-form content.
\nExperience working with or for local small- and medium-sized businesses is preferred.
\nExperience with WordPress (or a similar CMS) is preferred.
\nMust be well organized, detail-oriented, and adept at project management.
\nThe ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a remote-work environment.
\nAn enormous amount of empathy and humanity, with a deep understanding of how words make people feel.
\nA healthy respect for deadlines: the ability to prioritize progress over perfection and the drive to see projects through to completion.
\nExcitement for all aspects of editorial content development: idea generation, research, gathering input and buy in, and collaborating with writers, editors, and other content marketing team members.
\nFlexibility in the face of change: A high degree of comfort working in editorial environments that frequently adapt to internal and marketplace changes and opportunities.
\nA passion for connecting consumers with local businesses.
